YouTube Transcript & On-Device Summary
A Chrome extension. Read any YouTube video instead of watching it.
How to use
- Open a YouTube video.
- Click the extension icon — the transcript opens in Chrome's side panel.
- Click a timestamp to jump there; search, copy or follow along as the video plays.
- Click Summarize on device for the key points. The first time, Chrome downloads its on-device model once.
Free and Pro
Free: transcript, timestamps, search, follow-along, copy, and 3 summaries to try.
Pro: unlimited on-device summaries, translation into 100+ languages, .txt and .srt downloads. No account — just a license key, on up to 3 devices.
FAQ
"This video has no captions." The extension uses the video's captions, including YouTube's auto-generated ones. Some videos have none — usually very new uploads, music, or videos where the author turned captions off.
The summary button is disabled. Chrome's on-device AI needs Chrome 138+ on a computer with about 16 GB of RAM or a GPU with 4 GB. The transcript works on any computer.
New computer? If you use Chrome sync, Pro activates by itself. Otherwise paste your license key from the purchase email. Free a slot with "Deactivate this device".
