YouTube Transcript & On-Device Summary (Chrome extension) · Effective 14 October 2026
Short version
We don't collect, store or sell any personal data. There is no account, no analytics and no tracking. The only thing that ever leaves your computer is your license key, and only if you buy Pro — it is checked with our payment provider.
What the extension reads
When you open the side panel on a YouTube video, the extension reads the captions of that video from the YouTube page you are already watching, so it can show you the transcript. It does this only on www.youtube.com and only for the video in the active tab. Transcripts are not saved and are not sent anywhere.
Summaries
Summaries are written by Chrome's built-in AI model, which runs on your device. The transcript is processed locally by Chrome; it is not sent to us or to any AI service. The first time you use it, Chrome downloads its model from Google — that download is handled by Chrome itself.
Translation
Translated transcripts are provided by YouTube's own caption translation, requested from the YouTube page you are watching, in the same way the YouTube player does.
Pro license
If you buy Pro, payment is handled by Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record; we never see your card details. To activate Pro, the extension sends your license key and a device label (for example, "Chrome on Windows") to Lemon Squeezy's License API, and re-checks the key every few days. Your license key is stored in Chrome's storage and synced by Chrome to your other devices if you use Chrome sync.
What we never do
We don't use cookies, analytics, ads or fingerprinting. We don't read your browsing history or any page other than the YouTube video you open the panel on. We don't sell or share data with anyone.
Your choices
You can remove the extension at any time from chrome://extensions; this deletes everything it stored. "Deactivate this device" in the panel removes your license key from this device and frees an activation.
